YC: Before I start, I would like to thank Switch for honoring me as the Switch Superstar for the month of June 2010. Besides that, I want to thank Clement, Kant, Joanne, Jason Fong, Huey Shen, Marvin and other colleagues of QueensBay Mall outlet for guiding me through all the way. Anyway, I’m Toh Yong Chern from Penang island. I just celebrated my 22nd birthday last month together with my Switch colleagues. I’m having my final year with USM. Q: Please describe your typical day at work.
YC: Every time when a customer walks in, I greet them and try my best to assist them in the process of purchasing any Apple product or accessories. It includes recommending the right products for the customers, introducing them the special features of Apple products and so on. I also help customer to solve their problems on their Apple products. Other than that, I do check the stocks, clean the stores, and assist my colleagues if they need my help.
Q: What is your favourite part of working at Switch?
YC: The best part was helping customer to purchase their very first Apple product. I love sharing the “Wow!” factors of the Apple products with the customers and I feel very satisfy when customer love it too.
Q: Can you share with us the most important thing that you’ve learned from working at Switch?
YC: The most important thing I have learned working at Switch is that we have to equip ourselves with sufficient and correct knowledge about the products we are going to sell to the customers. So I always read tech news to keep myself updated with the latest technology or inventions available in the market. I will also seek for help from the seniors and experts when I have doubt with the products.
Q: What advice would you give to other Switchers (your colleagues) at work?
YC: “Rule No.1: The customer is always right. Rule No.2: If the customer is ever wrong, re-read rule #1″ quoted by Robert C. Wholey, founder of Wholey’s Fish Market. This is what I have learn from the class and found it is very important in order to run a successful business.
